Bruins continue to win

Shaking off the effects of playing on the second night of back to back games, Fargo South pulled away from visiting Fargo North in the second half on Friday night, and posted a 51-33 win in the Bruin gym. For most of the opening half, the game was closely contested. With just under 13 minutes to play in the half, the game was tied at 7-7. Jasmine Moffett then made a hoop on a fast break and also made a pair of freethrows to give the Bruins an 11-7 lead, and although the game would continue to stay close, the Bruins would never trail again. Katie Felch and Lauryn Wilson both scored to give South its biggest lead to that point at 15-9, and South took a 28-21 lead into the halftime break. North scored the first 4 points of the second half to make it 28-25, but from that point forward, the Bruins extended the lead. Balance was again key for South as all 7 JV girls scored. South built its biggest lead of the game on an Emily Livingood basket with 8 minutes to play, putting South up 47-29. The Bruins maintained that lead the rest of the way. South was led by the 14 points of Raquel Wellentin. South moves to 6-0 in the EDC and 7-2 overall. It was South's 6th straight win. Next action for the Bruins is a week from Tuesday when they travel to Grand Forks Central.
