Bruins get another road win
Fargo South kept up its solid play on Thursday night, showing no rust after a 2 week+ layoff, and posted a 59-22 win in Valley City. While the Bruins didn't have a huge explosion of points to start the game, they just steadily put together points and defensive stops, and the result was a 19-0 lead to start the game on a Lauryn Wilson basket with just under 10 minutes left in the opening half. Katie Felch and Raquel Wellentin did a lot of the damage for the Bruins to start with, as Felch hit for 10 points and 5 rebounds, while Wellentin hit for 8 points and grabbed 6 boards. By halftime, the Bruins had built a 29-3 lead. In the second half, South continued the trend, eventually building their biggest lead of the game at 57-12 on an Ali Koenig jumper from outside. The Bruins played the last 8 minutes of the game with the sophomore reserves, letting 9 players score, with Felch, Wellentin, and Brittney Bolstad all hitting double figures. Wellentin also posted a "double-double" as she scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The win is South's 5th in a row, and moves them to 5-0 in the EDC and 6-2 overall. Next action is Friday when they host Fargo North.
