Big first half helps Bruins get road win at Wahpeton

Fargo South built a big halftime lead en route to a solid road win over the Wahpeton Huskies on Tuesday night in the Huskies gym. The Bruins put up 54 first half points as they took control of the game early, using their full court pressure to jump out to a 15-2 lead less than 3 minutes into the game. As the Bruins settled into more of a half court game after building that quick lead, Meghan Roerich continued her torrid scoring pace, pumping in 19 first half points which included a pair of three point plays and a beautiful spinning layup in transition. Siri Burck also had her best offensive half of the season, as she dropped in 11 first half points, many coming on nice post up moves or pull up shots in the lane. But overall, it was a great team effort to build the big 54-15 halftime lead. 8 different Bruins scored in the half, and South forced 18 Wahpeton turnovers and grabbed 30 rebounds. In the second half, the Bruins were able to get a lot of valuable experience for the reserves, and the Bruins were able to maintain their halftime lead. Meghan Roehrich scored a game high 26 points and led South with 7 steals. She was joined in double figure scoring by Siri Burck with 16 and Alley Fisher with 11. Raquel Wellentin and Jasmine Moffett both hit double figure rebounds with 11 and 10 respectively. The win moves South to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the EDC. Next action for the Bruins is Friday night when they host 6-0 Red River for the EDC lead.
