Too many turnovers cost Bruins

Fargo South got off to probably their best start to a game this season, playing well in the opening 5 minutes despite missing a couple of point blank shots. Maggie Boese had a nice inside game going and the Bruins got off to an 8-7 lead over the opening few minutes. However, as has been the case all season long, a huge stretch of basketball occured where the Bruins did not take care of the ball, and 20 first half turnover later, the Bruins trailed 50-17 at halftime as the Firebirds ran layup drill against South or were able to make easy conversions on South turnovers in their own backcourt. The second half wasn't much better, although the Bruins did get a nice spark off the bench from a number of players. The Bruins also continued their cold shooting start to the season, as the non-post players for South shot under 10% for the game on 3-33 shooting. South will try to shake off both of those problems in their next game at Fargo North on Friday in a 5:45 game as part of a girl/boy doubleheader. Paige Schroeder led South in both scoring and rebounding with 10 and 4 respectively.
