The final score was not indicitive of how competitive the game was, as the Bruins put together a number of nice things in the game, but South missed 17 freethrows, which included a number of front ends of the bonus, and also missed 15 shots from inside the lane. Those missed opportunities to score allowed Sheyenne to gradually pull away from the Bruins as the game went on. The Mustangs jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead, but the Bruins fought like crazy to hand around and not let the game get away from them. With under 2 minutes to go before halftime, South trailed just 24-16 as the Bruin defense for the most part was getting things done. However, the Bruins will need to button up two major areas going forward that really took a toll on South this game - defensive rebounding and turnovers. South allowed 10 offensive boards in the first half and had 16 turnovers. Despite all that, the Bruins were down just 28-16 at the break. South again had a number of missed opportunities to get back in the game to start the second half, and the result was Sheyenne beginning the half on a 14-1 run, extending to a 25 point lead 4 minutes into the game. The Bruins played even after that, but the damage was done, and the Mustangs secured the 63-37 win. Despite the frustrating happenings on the court, the Bruins played very hard all game long, and will take quite a few positives from the game heading into Friday's match-up with West Fargo in South's only home game in December. Paige Schroeder led South with 8 points, while Anna Brakke and Emmerie Beyer both grabbed 9 rebounds.
