Turnovers plague Bruins in loss to Deacons

South had way too many turnovers to start the game and in the process dug themselves too big of a deficit to climb back from in an 81-54 loss to the Shanley Deacons on Friday night. South committed 10 turnovers in the first 4 minutes of the game, which is a turnover every 24 seconds. That led to the inevitible result of falling behind 16-2 to start the game. To their credit though, the Bruins still fought hard and after finally slowing down that turnover pace, kept the game within reason after an Adie Wagner three pointer made it 30-18 with around 8 minutes to go before half. The teams traded hoops over the next few minutes, but the Bruins gave up 13 points in the last two and a half minutes, allowing 3 wide open three pointers and 2 offensive rebound putback baskets to give the Deacons firm control of the game at 54-25 heading into the halftime lockerroom. South did some ok things in the second half, but by that time it was not nearly enough, and the Deacons cruised to the win. Adie Wager led the Bruins with 25 points while also grabbing 8 rebounds, and she was joined by Paige Schroeder who had another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. South is now off until January 4th when they host the Wahpeton Huskies.
