Bruins take a step forward despite loss to Mustangs

South dropped a 67-50 game to West Fargo Sheyenne, but it was the 3 minutes going into halftime and the 90 seconds after halftime that was a turning point in a hard fought Friday night game. South trailed 24-19 with 3 minutes to go before half, but live ball turnovers let the Mustangs take a 36-25 halftime lead. After the break, South gave up 5 quick points to give Sheyenne a 41-25 lead, turning a close game into a tough situation in very short order. However, South did play well for a large chunk of the game, holding their own for long stretches against a tough, physical Mustangs team. Overall, their energy level was much better than in the previous game, so that was a positive. The Bruins also got some nice play from their post players, with Paige Schroeder getting another double-double, grabbing a game high 13 rebounds to go with 11 points, Maggie Boese grabbed 8 offensive rebounds on her way to 11 total boards to go along with 9 points, and Mesaged Abakar gave a nice spark off the bench, scoring 4 points and brought some nice energy onto the court. Adie Wagner continued her solid scoring season, dropping in a team high 15 hard earned points. South has two road games coming up this week, heading to West Fargo on Tuesday and Davies on Thursday.
