Cold shooting hurts South

Fargo South did a decent job of keeping the Eagles offense in check, but shot only 20% from the field including 11% from behind the 3 point line and the result was a 54-33 loss at Davies in the EDC opener for both teams on Tuesday night. The Bruins got on the board first on a basket by Paige Schroeder, who finished with a double-double 14 point, 10 rebound effort, but that was the Bruins only lead of the game. The injury bug kept rolling along for the Bruins as they lost Laura Green to injury 5 minutes into the game and she did not return. South trailed 19-12 midway through the opening half, but a pair of freethrows and back to back three pointers allowed Davies to stretch things out to 27-12 with 5 minutes to go before half. The teams played evenly the rest of the half, and South trailed 34-18 at halftime. The Bruins scored first again in the second half to make it 34-20, but couldn't ever make a run of baskets to get any closer. A long pass from Adie Wagner to Paige Schroeder over the Eagles press made the score 42-27 halfway through the period. The Bruins did see some progress on some key focus points that they are working on, so that was a positve, but the cold shooting combined with 28 turnovers just didn't give South a chance to be in the game at the end. A three pointer at the buzzer for the Eagles closed out the game. Next action for South is Friday when they host defending EDC champs Devils Lake.
