Fargo South did some ok things on Saturday afternoon, but in the end did not rebound well enough to earn the victory at Fargo North and fell by a 66-58 score. The Bruins gave up 15 offensive rebounds in the first half which led to 10 extra points by the Spartans. After falling behind by double figures midway through the opening half, South closed the gap to 28-24 on the strength of 3 Adie Wagner three pointers, the last with just under 3 minutes to go. However the Bruins gave up the last 10 points of the half and trailed 38-24 at halftime. North then scored on the first 2 possessions of the second half and built the lead to 41-24 and things looked to be going the wrong way for the Bruins. However, they begain to take care of their defensive boards and were able to get going on offense to close the gap. Wagner hit another 3, Paige Schroeder converted a three point play, and Raechel Osborn hit a three and just like that the lead was cut to 41-33. The Bruins kept the pressure on and cut the lead to 48-46 with 10 minutes left in the half. During that 8 minutes, the Bruins did not surrender an offensive board by the Spartans, but started to give them up again over the last portion of the game. North withstood that charge by the Bruins and scored 8 more points off of second chances to extend their lead, eventually holding on for the 8 point win. South placed 3 players in double figures led by the 19 of Wagner. Osborn and Schroeder had 12 and 10 respectively. Next action for the Bruins is Tuesday when they host Valley City.
