4 minute second half stretch dooms Bruins

Fargo South was in control for most of the game on Tuesday night, but an 18-0 Packer run over 4 minutes late in the second half spelled doom as the Bruins dropped a 73-57 decision to West Fargo in the Bruins gym. The Packers got off to a 6-0 lead on the Bruins, but quickly tied it up on a three point play by Adie Wagner and a three pointer by Laura Green, then took a 13-10 lead on a Wagner three with 11 minutes to go, and a Sami Hoselton putback basket gave the the Bruins a 20-14 lead midway through the half. The teams traded baskets after that, and with 2 minutes to go before halftime, South held a 30-25 lead. But as has been a bad pattern, the Bruins struggled to finish out the half as the Packers closed out the period on an 8-2 run to lead 33-32 at halftime. The Packers then scored to open the second half, but another Green three tied the score at 35-35. The Bruins next 12 points came from 4 three pointers from Wagner and Green, and back to back threes by Brynn Nelson gave South a 47-43 lead with 11 minutes to go. Adie Wagner then hit Ann Smith on a nice drop pass, and South had a 51-45 lead with 8:30 remaining. However, that is when the tide turned for South, as the Packers ran off 18 straight points to take a 63-51 lead with 4 minutes to go. Raechel Osborn's three pointer cut the lead to 63-54, but South could not get any closer. Freethrows down the stretch closed out the scoring. Adie Wagner led the Bruins with 23 points, joined in double figures by Sami Hoselton, her 3rd straight double figure scoring night, with a 10 point effort. Next action for South is Friday when they travel to Valley City.
