Shanley size too much for South

Fargo South played well in stretches, but in the end it was too much size for the Shanley Deacons that the Bruins just did not have an answer for, and the result was a 71-52 loss on Tuesday night. The game was tight through the first 12 minutes, with Shanley holding a narrow 20-17 lead, but then Shanley used their size advantage to extend to a 30-18 lead with just under 3 minutes to play before halftime. South came roaring back though, cutting that lead to 30-25 with just over a minute to play, but a couple of missed opportunities let Shanley add another basket and free throw to take a 33-25 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Bruins struggled to put points on the board as the Deacons were cleaning up inside, building a 48-27 lead with a 15-2 run to start the half. South did not make their second basket of the half until the 11:38 mark making it 48-29 game. The Bruins did get it back to 50-35 at the 10 minute mark, but that was as close as the Bruins would get. Shanley knocked down a three pointer late to finish the scoring at 71-52. Adie Wagner led South in scoring 19 points and grabbing 6 steals and 6 rebounds. Shanley's Mo Hakim led all scorers in the game as she dropped in 33 points. South falls to 6-7 overall and will host Red River on Friday night.
