The second game of the week against a team from West Fargo looked a lot like the first...South played scrappy all night long and did a lot of good things, but couldn't quite get over the hump and fell 79-66 in the Packer gym on Friday night. The Bruins used pressure defense all first half to stay close after falling behind 6-0 early. A three pointer by Alice Carlson late in the half made it a 30-28 game and the Bruins trailed just 37-32 at halftime. South was aggressive on offense, getting to the freethrow line 17 times in the opening half. That was countered by the three point shooting of the Packers though, as they drained key threes all night long to keep South at bay. In the second half, the Packers scored the first 5 points, pushing the lead out to double figures, and for a long strech of the half, the game stayed there with South dipping it under 10 a number of times, but each time South tried to rally, the Packers were able to knock down a three pointer. In the end it was just too much for the Bruins to overcome. Sami Hoselton played a very good game with 8 rebounds, 8 steals, and 7 assists. South put 4 players in double figure scoring with Paige Schroeder leading the team with 15, Adie Wagner close behind at 14, Alice Carlson had 12, and Brynn Nelson had 11. Laura Green hit a pair of threes for South in the second half, while Ann Smith played steady inside, and freshman Teagan Malo got some good minutes inside as well. South has 2 more tough games next week, playing the teams who are tied atop the EDC standings in Fargo Davies and Devils Lake.
