Bruins struggle defensively in loss at Valley City

Fargo South gave up 40+ points in both halves on Friday night and the result was an 86-47 loss on the road in Valley City. The Hi-liners jumped out early on the Bruins as they continually were able to get shots inside either initially in the possession or on offensive rebound putbacks, and led 14-3 to start the game. The Bruins did fight back and cut the lead to 28-26 with around 5 minutes to play, but the Hi-liners outscored South 13-2 to close out the half, and the Bruins trailed 41-28 at halftime. Things did not improve in the second half, as Valley was able to get to the rim seemingly every possession either for a shot or for a kick out to an open three pointer. The Hi-liners scored nearly 40 points over their season average on Friday, placing 4 players in double figures. For the Bruins, they were led in scoring by Adie Wagner's 14 points, joined in double figures by Brynn Nelson's 10. Next action for South is Tuesday when they travel to Sheyenne for a 5:45 game.
